37 This information taken from the book HOFFA, written by A. Sloane:

James R. Hoffa's entrance into the world---on February 14, 1913, in Brazil, Indiana---contained its own element of color. The sole general practitioner in that small central-western Indiana town had consistently maintained during Viola Riddle Hoffa's pregnancy that the swelling in her abdomen was a tumor, and the arrival of the Valentine's Day baby therefore came as a definite surprise. The third of four children---two boys and two girls all born within a four-year span---the future Teamster chief executive was named after his father's brother James and was given his mother's family name as his middle name. But for the first few days of his life he was apparently known simply as "The Tumor."
Academically, the four Hoffa children were enrolled at Detroit's Neinas Intermediate School, whose records show James R. Hoffa to have been a low B student who excelled only in gymnastics and track. At Neinas, the future labor leader was also remembered as a boy who, as many others in that era, had won social acceptance from his classmates with his fists after having been scoffed at by them for being a "hillbilly."
According to the official Teamsters Union publicity, Hoffa "finished the ninth grade: and "never went back to school again." At least at one time in adulthood, on the other hand, Hoffa claimed just seven school grades, insisting that the other two grades existed only in the mind of "some sharp public relations man, trying to make me look educated." And the mystery is compounded by the fact that years later, on at least one occasion, Hoffa specifically referred to his graduation from the ninth grade, while on another he stated that he completed his education in 1927, "when I was fourteen and was to enter ninth grade."

Jimmy Hoffa Is Legally Dead

James Riddle Hoffa disappeared in 1975, and almost everybody was convinced that he had been killed under orders from a Mafia Boss. But because his body never materialized, the former Teamster president remained alive in the eyes of the law. Until last week. On July 30, seven years to the day since he vanished, Jimmy Hoffa was at last declared legally dead.
Hoffa was last seen outside a suburban Detroit Restaurant, the Machus Red Fox. Reporters and investigators pursued dozens of leads: one had Hoffa's body buried in a nearby cornfield, another had it underneath a new cement floor at a highway department garage. Just last month a federal witness at a Senate hearing alleged that former New Jersey Teamster and reputed mobster Anthony (Tony Pro) Provenzano had had Hoffa killed - reportedly because Hoffa was threatening to expose Teamster links to organized crime - "ground up in pieces, shipped to Florida and dumped in a swamp."
Theory: The prevailing theory among authorities is that Hoffa was drawn to the Machus Red Fox to meet Provenzano and reputed local crime figure Anthony (Tony Jack) Giacalone. Instead, he was met by a trusted aide who - according to investigators - was an unwitting accomplice to two thugs who knocked Hoffa unconscious and disposed of his body in a Detroit incinerator. While proof remains elusive, the Detroit FBI office has five filing cabinets filled with interviews and Hoffa material.
"It's been very, very hard on the family to have this uncertainty pending over our heads," says the former Teamster's son, Jim. "At this point there's obviously no hope that he'll ever be back…" The one fact the family can take comfort in is that virtually all those suspected in the Hoffa case have been convicted, albeit for other crimes. Hoffa did not leave a will, and his estate - estimated at $1 million - has been administered by his son since his disappearance. Although Hoffa has now been declared legall dead, Michigan law dictates that three more years must pass vefore the inheritance can be divided between Jim and his sister, Barbara Crancer of St. Louis. By that time taxes and pending legal fees will have devoured much of the orginal sum.
"Hopefully, somewhere along the line the case will be broken and those responsible will be brought to justice," says Jim Hoffa. But although FBI agents insist that they are close to solving the case, they have claimed as much for years and there are still no confessions, no indictments - and no body. Unfortunately, it seems likely that the Hoffa case will remain what author Steven Brill has called "probably the most notorious unsolved murder of the decade."

39 During the 1780s, before Tenn. became a state, a movement was started by the inhabitants of the western lands claimed by the state of North Carolina. The idea was to form a new state to be called Franklin from all North Carolina lands west of the Appalachian Mountains. John and Peter Fouts' names appear on a petition for the formation of the state Franklin endorsed in December of 1787. Fouts, John Leonard (I165995)

40 Future generations of the DeSart families may wish to know something of their HUGUENOT ancestry. The Huguenots were a group of Protestants who were the center of political and religious quarrels in France in the 1500's and 1600's. They were followers of John Calvin and represented varied ethnic groups. In England they were called Puritans; in Scotland, Presbyterians; in Holland and Belgium, Walloons; and in France, Huguenots. The name Huguenot was given to them by the French Roman Catholics and may have come from that of Bezanson Hugues, a Swiss leader.
Mounting persecution of Protestants in France under King Louis XIV culminated in 1685 with the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. This was given by Henry IV after the Wars of Religion (1562-1598) to allow the Huguenots complete toleration and establish Protestantism in 200 towns in France. After the Edict of Nantes was revoked, as many as 400,000 Protestants fled from France to Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands. The city of Leiden Holland early became a refuge of great numbers of Huguenots. The first Huguenots who traveled from Leiden Holland to America in 1663 settled on Manhattan Island and named it "New Amsterdam", now it is called New York City. Seldom were they called Huguenots, but rather Walloons, because their church was the Church of the Walloons.
Howard and Martha DeSart traveled to Holland in 1990 to do research on the DeSart family. (Howard Douglas DeSart is the third child of Howard Myrl DeSart, who is the third child of Clarence Milton DeSart, who is the third child of David DeSart, who is the second child of Francis DeSart, who is the fifth child of Abraham DeSart.) A very nice young man there named Paul van der Laaken helped locate the following records in the book of baptisms dated 1748 to 1811 at the Pilgrim Document Center in the town of Leiden Holland. These records show that Matthieu DeSart and Ann van Sint Truyen had three sons baptized in the Walloon Church:

1. Jean Corneille DeSart, born January 22, 1773. Baptized
January 27, 1773.
Witnesses: Pierre van Noemer and Dina van Sint Truyen.
2. Abraham DeSart, born May 30, 1774. Baptized June 1, 1774.
Witnesses: Pierre van Noemer Jr. and Judith DeSart.
3. Dinandus DeSart, born August 8, 1775. Baptized August 13,
1775.
Witnesses: Pierre van Noemer and Dina van Sint Truyen.

The records were somewhat difficult to locate because they were alphabetically filed under Sart. The first part of the name sometimes appears as "De" and sometimes as "de". In the Dutch records, "de" is not part of the proper name and means "of". Howard states that he was unable to locate any birth or death records for Matthieu DeSart, Ann van Sint Truyen, or Judith DeSart but did find marriage records for Matthieu DeSart and Ann van Sint Truyen.

Information on the family of the Rev. William Green sent to me by Roberta Ragsdale Wallace, 741 South Porter, Tyler, TX. 75701: Found in Garland County Historical Record 1969 pages 164 and 165 is 1880 census record of Old Marble community along with a Bible record from Ishamael H. Green of Magazine, ARK. which gives the earliest history of this family.

Found in a book "Love, Honor, and Cherish" by Lillian Hart of Hot Springs, Arkansas, her source "Saline County, Arkansas Marriage Book B", Rev. William Green was ordained by the Baptist Church of Christ at Bethel, Rhea County, Tennessee on Feb. 1, 1834. Credentials had to be posted by those who performed weddings. Rhea County in across the Tennessee River from Meigs where the family was found in the 1850 census. It is believed that the Rev. William Green lived near the Old Kentucky Church and may have participated in that church (Saline County Arkansas?)
ANTIOCH CEMETERY

Directions from Benton Arkansas: Take highway 5 west to highway 9, go north
to Sulphur Springs Rd, this road is located on your left in a curb before
you reach the Weyerhauser unit, stay on this main road until it comes to
an end, turn left here and continue around and it will become a narrow paved
road, the cemetery is located on the right by Old Union Primitive Baptist
Church. At one time the building was both church and school house called
Antioch School and Antioch Church, apparently when one room schools
consolidated; the church was attended by both Baptist and Methodist, later
Primitive Baptist used the building alone and in the shuffle the name of
Antioch was left off. This area is also known as the "Tillery Community".
This cemetery was survey on April 29, 1999 by Katrina Johnson, several of
the older stones were broken.

44 Carl was initially a farm laborer for his father in Union Township, Auglaize County, Ohio. He was in Blanchard (near Dunkirk), Hardin County, Ohio, by 1907 where he worked as a retail grocer and joined the Masons on September 14, 1910. By 1924, he had gone to Columbus where he became a well respected carpenter, building numerous houses in the Columbus area, including a house for his family at 54 Sheffield Road. After transferring his membership in the Masons in Columbus in 1930, he went on to 32nd Degree Masons, White Shrine. Carl worked for Columbus Forge and Iron Works but received a foot injury in an industrial accident. The Forge offered Carl a job as a purchasing agent until he unexpectedly died. He was a member of Maple Grove Methodist Church. Conrad, Carl C. (I189307)

In 1253 he was invested by the Pope in the Kingdom of Sicily and Apulia, at about this time he was also made Earl of Chester. These were of little value as the real King of Sicily was still living and the Earldom of Chester was transfered to his elder brother Edward. He soon obtained, however, both possessions and dignities, for upon the forfeiture of Simon de Montfort by the King of the Earldom of Leicester and also the honour of the Stewardship of England and the lands of Nicolas de Segrave. Whereas it hath been represented to me that Cornelius Lenehan and Maurice Power hold and possess a fishing room at Tilting Harbour, with sundry fishing works thereon, not erected by themselves, nor at their expense, that the said two men, Lenehan and Power, are not qualified to hold a fishing room according to the act of the 10th.and of the 11th.of William III, which require that every fifth man shall be a new or "Greenman" from Britain yearly, besides the coast to the northward of Bonavista being held by the King's orders, declared all ships rooms for concurrent fishery of English and French ships. I thereby authorize any British fishing ship qualified as such with the usual fishing certificate to take possession of and use said room at Tilting Harbour and the said Power and Lenehan on sight hereof are immediately to quit same to any fishing ship that may claim the use of it or accommodate themselves otherwise as they may agree.

Ware Family History

The "Colonial Records of Rhode Island", by Bartlett, Vol. 1, 1636-1663 shows that John Hall arrived in Newport, RI shortly after its formation on April 28, 1639 and was at that time admitted as an inhabitant, it states: Inhabitants admitted at the towne of Nieu-Port since the 20th of the 3d, 1638. (May 20, 1638) were: Marmaduke Ward, Robert Field, Thomas Stafford, Job Tyler, Thomas Sauorie, Hugh Durdall, William Baker, John Layton, Mr. William Foster, John Hall, Toby Knight, John Peckum, Michell Williamson, Mr. Robert Lintell, Richard Smith, James Rogers, John Smith, William Parker, John Grinman, Edward Rero, John Macummore, Robert Root, Ezekiah Meritt, James Burt, John Bartlett, Edward ____, Sampson Salter, Nicholas Cotterell, John Vaughan, John Smith, John Merchant, Jeremy Gould, Enoch Hunt, Nathaniel Adams, Samuel Allen, George Allen, Ralph Allen, Mr. Thomas Burton, Henry Bishop, John Hicks, Edward Browce, Mathew Gridell.

Identifying John Greene, Jr.

Son of John Greene of Quidnesset

In March 1681-2, John Greene and his wife Joan conveyed to their son, Daniel Greene, one hundred and twenty acres bordering on Allen's Harbor,3/4 the farm now owned by Mr. Joseph Allen,3/4 and also to their son, James Greene, sixty acres adjoining across the brook to the northward, the consideration in each case being the same, viz., the annual payment of thirty shillings as long as the father or mother should live. At this time the land next north of James Greene's estate was owned by a John Greene, presumably the son of the elder John, who three years later was a resident of East Greenwich. In Feb. 1682 John Greenman acknowledged, for himself and his brother David, the deed he had given Greene to land in Newport in 1647.
